TERMS OF SERVICE

The deal.
Short version included.

What you agree to when you use Archivist

Use Archivist for personal Magic: The Gathering collection management. Pay for the paid tiers if you signed up for them. Don't break the law with the software. We'll do our best to keep it working and your data safe. The fine print follows.

01Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Archivist ("the software") or visiting getarchivist.app ("the website"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

02The service

Archivist is a desktop application for cataloging Magic: The Gathering cards, importing decks, and analyzing collections and decks. The free tier runs entirely on your Mac. The paid tiers ("Plus" and "Lifetime") add cloud sync, deck-analysis features, and price history backed by our server.

The service depends on third-party data sources (Scryfall, Commander Spellbook, EDHREC). If they change their APIs, go offline, or restrict access, related features may degrade or stop working. We'll do our best to adapt but can't guarantee any specific third-party feature will keep functioning.

03Your account

You need an account to use the paid tiers. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens on your account. Tell us at hello@getarchivist.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

One account per person. Don't share credentials. The Free tier and paid tiers both stipulate a one-device-at-a-time license for personal use.

04Payment, billing, cancellation

05Your data, your ownership

Your card library, decks, scan history, notes, locations — that's yours. We claim no ownership. You grant us only the technical license needed to store and serve it back to you (and your other devices, if you're on a paid tier).

You can export everything as CSV or JSON from the app at any time, on every tier. See the privacy policy for retention and deletion details.

06Acceptable use

Don't:

07Card data & brand

Magic: The Gathering, card names, mana symbols, and related artwork are trademarks and copyrights of Wizards of the Coast LLC, a subsidiary of Hasbro. Archivist is an independent fan tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast or Hasbro.

Card metadata is sourced from Scryfall. Combo data is sourced from Commander Spellbook. Deck recommendations are sourced from EDHREC. Use of card data within Archivist is subject to those services' terms.

08The software is provided "as is"

Archivist is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We don't promise the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every attack, or compatible with every camera or future macOS version. We will, however, take reasonable steps to keep it working, secure, and updated.

09Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Archivist is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including loss of data — except where prohibited by law.

Translation: back up your library (one-click JSON export, free, on every tier). If you lose data because of a bug, our maximum exposure is your last 12 months of subscription fees — or $0 if you're on the free tier.

10Termination

You can stop using Archivist any time. Uninstall the app, delete your account, or simply let your subscription lapse. We can terminate or suspend your account if you materially violate these terms (e.g., acceptable use), with notice where reasonably possible.

11Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. If a change is material we'll email everyone with an active account at least 14 days before it takes effect. The "Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use after that date is acceptance.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
